A native English speaker, with a background in art and architecture, I teach English and art in English, this gives students the opportunity to practice their English in a relaxed way. I believe that learning in creativity, and creativity in learning transcends language barriers – art is a truly universal language.
I ‘accidentally’ discovered that I loved teaching when I was asked to help Welsh speaking children to create fabric art for a competition, based on a card I had made for their teacher. It was hectic, loud and I had more fun than anyone, and, like here at Eduparc where the children are helping me improve my French (I’m not so sure about my Swiss German... yet!), they helped me improve my Welsh too.
Besides languages and art being great passions, my other passion is sport. I love road cycling, running and swimming and putting them altogether in a triathlon. As I am not really good at any of them, it is the perfect sport. I also get enormous pleasure in coaching others, and just like teaching, seeing those small improvements add up over time and become something special, for me this is the greatest gift of all.
My tip is: Keep opening yourself up to new opportunities in life... you never know where they will lead.
